So, I started in 2019, already hired by NextAge. I met Marcelo, and he offered me a challenge. At the time, the challenge was to start in user support and implementation on the NextAge platform, the system for construction, which is where NextAge originated. When I arrived, the department was small, and I joined to provide support, assisting André, who is also a director today, in this area.
Over time, the company began to focus more and more on software development, migrating significantly to the software house sector. The platform that was the legacy system, our internal system for construction, became entirely under my responsibility. I started prospecting new projects, dealing with clients, and moved from support to take on commercial and managerial areas. This period was fundamental for my growth, showing that I could take on new responsibilities. Marcelo and Juliano continued to offer me new challenges, and I accepted them.
So, I went from support to analyst and then to project manager, always focused on the NextAge platform, specifically on RH Web. With the company's growth, there was an expansion of the directorates, and the opportunity arose to start a new phase in NextAge's software factory, with the support service. In this new sector, we work with clients who do not have a development area, keeping systems up and running. This was the journey that led me to the board, assuming the direction of this new support sector.
Challenges arose unexpectedly, whenever I was focused on a specific area, the company had a new need or function to add, and I accepted them. Marcelo and Juliano, with their constant feedback, always encouraged me to seek something different, to explore new areas within the company. This always motivated me; I always liked challenges. They could be related to positions, changes in function, or transitions between areas in the company. Whenever I realized I could contribute in some way, I accepted these challenges.
By accepting these challenges and always seeking growth within the company, I realized that my vision of taking on the demands that arose aligned with the company's objectives regarding my professional growth.
I don't like monotony. I always seek ways to add more, to help more. And when we find this restlessness in professionals, the desire to always improve, it stimulates the company's growth. I see this in my team too. When I think we're at a standstill, that everything is fine, someone always brings a suggestion for improvement, an idea to enhance a project. They are always talking to each other, sharing knowledge, and seeking ways to raise the level of work.
Man, it was a 100% change. When I joined NextAge, I had left another company and was kind of adrift in the market, doing sporadic jobs, freelancers, and such. I accepted the challenge at NextAge, which was to start from scratch. That changed everything, man, I can say it changed practically everything in my life. At that moment, my vision of the future was kind of lost, you know? I was a little discouraged, without many prospects. But when I joined NextAge, everything changed. It revived in me that desire to do something different, to grow.
And it wasn't just in the professional aspect, the company also cares about the well-being of the employee. In my case, it goes beyond the personal aspect, it even reaches the family part. The company always supported me a lot in this. When I needed to work from home full-time, they gave me that opportunity. It was a huge impact, not only in my life but also in my family's life. I was able to convey a bit of NextAge's vision to them, about what it's like to work in a place that really cares about your well-being, that wants to know if you're happy, if you're satisfied. And if, by chance, what you're doing isn't working out, the company is open to finding a solution, to relocate you to something that is more suitable for you. In that sense, it changed a lot. It only added values, both professional and family, to my life.
All that desire I had before, not to stand still, always wanting more, kind of got lost at some point in life. NextAge helped me get out of that point and return to that previous thought, of wanting to grow, of wanting to make a difference.
Leading and being responsible for others is challenging. Dealing with people, each one unique, is a true challenge. It's necessary to first see them as individuals before professionals, understand how I can impact them, much like NextAge impacted my life, and how I can contribute to their growth. I find this challenging because each person has their own needs and aspirations. However, within NextAge, people are always willing to add value, always seeking more.
In this sense, it becomes lighter because I've never encountered people within NextAge who were just part of the group or team but didn't want to contribute. That's very gratifying. It makes leadership a bit easier. However, it's a constant concern because balancing the client's vision with the team's vision is necessary, without allowing problems to affect team members personally. It's challenging but rewarding, and I really enjoy it.
It's a great responsibility because I always try to put myself in others' shoes. If someone isn't performing well in the team, I try to understand if it's a personal issue, related to the company, or if I should take responsibility. As a leader, it's important to seek ways to improve a person's performance before considering excluding them from the team, which should be the last option after exhausting all alternatives.
